This workshop will be focused on teaching the basics of DESMOS to prepare students to use this tool for the AP Physics Exams and preparing classroom assessments using Desmos. Additionally, attendees will have an opportunity to conduct some of the demos and labs that were presented to participants at the Teaching Fluids in AP Physics workshop last Fall. Please note: you don't need to have attended the Teaching Fluids in AP physics W/S to attend this event. There are no prerequisites other than basic physics knowledge and lab techniques. Please bring to the workshop a Laptop. Optional devices to bring are a cell phone and calculator.
The following topics will be addressed.
*Teaching students to use Demos to do the following:
*Graphing Lab Data
*Linearization of data
*Graphing parabola, hyperbola and sideways parabola functions.
*Also, techniques for teachers to implement and create assessments using DESMOS will be discussed.
After approximately a two hour presentation and practice session, participants will have an opportunity to conduct fluid demos/labs.
Timeline is as follows:
8:00am to 8:30 morning refreshments/registration
8:30 to 10:30 Desmos main event
10:30 to Noon. Practice session for fluid demos and labs
